Google Jobs and Job Edge
To give you a better understanding of what our “Job Edge for Google” product is all about and to see if it’s for you, let’s start with a handful of questions…
Are you really passionate about getting a job at Google?
- If so, we’d expect you’d be doing a lot of research, prepping for the specifics of your interview (e.g. coding, or product management practices)… and looking for every reasonable edge you can get to get the job.
Are you well aware that Google is one of the most difficult companies in the ENTIRE WORLD to get a job?
- According to LinkedIn’s research, they have been the #1 most desired company to work for several of the last 10 years. They also have reportedly have received literally MILLIONS of applications for their job postings, sometimes leading to several hundred applications for EACH job posting!!! So… if you’re not a truly recognized expert in a field that Google is looking for, coupled with a decent amount of “Googleyness”, then you will need an edge on your competition to get a job at Google… assuming you want that job sooner than later.
Let’s say that they only get 50 applications for the job you apply for in (though over 100 is easily more likely) … and let’s say that they decide to actually interview 10 people for that job… Of those 10 they decide to interview after reviewing the applications and perhaps a phone screening, how many of those 10 do you think can do the job well?
- Here’s what we think… We are ABOVE CONFIDENT that their professional recruiters and hiring team are very good at this process, and many will have a lot of hiring experience (and will have had specific training on hiring provided by Google…). So, on average, we believe that at least 9 of those 10 will be able to show that they can do the job quite well. If you believe that is a fair assumption, we hope you’re thinking even harder about how you can set yourself apart. What edge will you bring to set yourself from the competition – AND… is it an edge that will matter to Google?

What is Job Edge??
Job Edge for Google is about giving you insight into Google LLC’s overarching business strategy and how you can weave that insight into your preparation and interviews. Per our mantra “Understand. Connect. Grow.”, we want to help you ‘understand’ their business and priorities so you can ‘connect’ your skills and experience to what matter to them during the hiring process – especially interviews and other interactions. Then, this knowledge can help you grow with them – even after you get the job. We can assure you that this level of understanding of their strategy is only understood and internalized by a small percentage of employees based on our experience with many companies, large and small.
We accomplish this through several aspects of this product – in condensed form (~25 pages):
